Shelling Corn 1

I save our very best corn for seed. These are ears I culled out. They are just for eating. At the left is a plastic crate full of dry ears. Notice we chose a type of crate with good air circulation. In the large cooking pot is the cast aluminum hand shelling tool sitting in the kernels. I use it when shelling a few bushels at a time. It is from Lehman's Hardware, listed in the links section. To the right are empty cobs we save for starting fires in the wood stove. The kernels will be stored in the blue coffee can.
