Onion plants

These guys need a bit of hand weeding. Like carrots, onions prefer a light or sandy soil, so they don't do that well here in our rocky clay. The seeds will not keep for more than a year, and they readily cross with wild plants. We grow a few because we like them. For an onion flavor, shallots from divided cloves and Egyptian onion plants are more reliable.
